The Structural Extreme Events Reconnaissance (StEER) Network has issued a Preliminary Virtual Reconnaissance Report (PVRR) for the Mw 5.6 Earthquake that occured in West Java, Indonesia, on November 21, 2022.
The objectives of this report are to (1) provide details of the November 21 M 5.6 earthquake, (2) summarize the tectonic features of the event, (3) synthesize the recording ground motions and provide comparisons with design-level shaking, (4) briefly encapsulate the local building codes and construction practices and (5) provide a preliminary assessment of the damage to buildings and other infrastructure as well as the broader societal impacts.
